Skilled Nominated visa Subclass 190

With this visa you can:

  • stay, work and study in Australia
  • enroll in a health care programme Medicare Australia
  • have unlimited entries and exits from Australia for a period of up to 5 years
  • get a permanent stay in Australia with the date of visa approval
  • apply for Australian citizenship later.

Eligibility requirements:

This visa requires a nomination by an Australian state or territorial government agency or a family member who meets certain requirements. Before applying for this visa, you need to submit an EOI-Expressions of Interest, so that state or territorial government agencies can see your statement and be able to nominate you for a visa. If they nominate you, they will invite you to apply. Whether you will be nominated depends on their own criteria.

You also need to meet the following requirements:

  • to be sponsored by a state or a family member
  • to have passed Skills Assessment for your occupation
  • to be up to 45 years at the time of the invitation
  • to meet health and character requirements

This also applies to members of your family who apply for a visa with you.

  • to have certain level of English
  • to have at least 65 points in total
  • to sign the Australian values statement in which you acknowledge that you will respect the Australian lifestyle and Australian laws.

You have a deadline of 60 days to apply for a visa once you receive the invitation.  You may be offshore or onshore at the time of applying for this visa.

Skilled Independent visa Subclass 189

This work visa does not require sponsorship from an employer, family member, state or territory

With this visa you can:

  • stay, work and study anywhere in Australia
  • include eligible members of your family in your visa application and sponsor them to come to Australia
  • stay permanently in Australia and enrol into a health care programme Medicare Australia
  • have unlimited entries and exits from Australia for a period of up to 5 years
  • apply for Australian citizenship later.

Eligibility requirements:

Before applying for this visa, you must submit an EOI – Expression of Interest. After that, the Department of Home Affairs will decide whether you will be invited to apply for a visa which depends on other interested applicants.

In order to be invited to apply, you must also meet the following requirements:

  • to have experience in one of the occupations from a list of eligible occupations in Australia
  • to have passed Skills Assessment for your occupation
  • to have up to 45 years at the time of the invitation
  • to meet health and character requirements

This also applies to members of your family who apply for a visa with you.

  • to have a certain level of English
  • to have at least 65 points in total

Skilled Employer Sponsored Provisional visa Subclass 494

This type of visa allows you to:

  • To stay, work and study in a specific regional area of ​​Australia, except in Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne for up to 5 years, both you and your family members;
  • To have unlimited entry and exit from Australia during the visa period;
  • To apply for a Permanent Residence visa three years from the moment you are granted a visa.

There are three types of this visa:

  • to have a functional level of English
  • to possess relevant skills and qualifications as well as work experience
  • to have a positive assessment of qualifications and work experience (skills assessment) for the profession for which you can receive a nomination
  • to meet character and health requirements for all family members.
  • you have had a visa refused in the past.

Processing time

The time required to process an application for this visa is different for each case and may vary. You need to fill in the application correctly because it can affect the length of processing. You must also take into account that due to additional checks, this may take longer.

Visa application charge

The fee for this visa is AUD4,045 for the main applicant,  AUD2,025 for adult family members, and AUD1,010 for underage members.

Temporary Skill Shortage visa Subclass 482

With this visa the employer can sponsor a skilled worker in order to fill positions for which he cannot find a suitable worker who is an Australian citizen or a permanent resident in Australia.

This visa has 3 streams:

With Short-term stream you can:

  • work in Australia for your employer-sponsor
  • study
  • have unlimited entries and exits from Australia while the visa is valid
  • stay in Australia for 2 to 4 years.

Eligibility requirements:

  • to be nominated for a position by an approved sponsor
  • to have 2 years of experience in a nominated occupation
  • to have the skills you need for the work
  • to have a certain level of English.

With Medium-term stream you can:

  • live, work and study in Australia for up to 4 years
  • have unlimited entries and exits from Australia while your visa is valid.

Eligibility requirements:

  • to be sponsored for the occupation from the skilled occupation list
  • to have at least 2 years of relevant work experience

Labour Agreement stream is for skilled workers and with this visa you can:

  • live, study and work for a sponsor in Australia temporarily for up to 4 years depending on the terms of the labour agreement
  • have unlimited entries and exits from Australia while your visa is valid.

Eligibility requirements:

  • to have relevant Skills Assessment for certain occupations
  • to work for a sponsor
  • to have a certain level of English.

With Subsequent entrant stream members of the family of qualified workers who have a valid visa 482 or 457 can:

  • live, work and study in Australia
  • have unlimited entries and exits from Australia while your visa is valid.

Eligibility requirements:

  • to be a partner or a dependent family member of the holder of visas 482 or 457.

Processing times

The processing time for a Temporary Skill Shortage visa Subclass 482 is from a month and a half to two months for a Short-term stream, from a month to two months for a Medium-term stream, from 20 days to a month and a half for a Labour Agreement stream.

This visa allows you to perform short-term and highly specialised jobs in Australia, so this visa is suitable for those with specialised skills, knowledge or experience that are not available in Australia.

Temporary activity visa Subclass 408 is for the short-term, temporary job.

  • not work outside your specified sporting activities

With Entertainment activities visa you can:

  • work on film, television or live production or in the entertainment industry

  • to have a contract or other proof of your engagement
  • to have sufficient funds to finance yourself or any member of your family travelling with you while you are in Australia
  • to apply online.

With Superyacht Crew visa you can:

  • be a member of a yacht crew in Australia
  • stay in Australia for up to 2 months with family members.

Eligibility requirements:

  • to have a contract to work as a crew member on a yacht
  • to have a letter from the owner of the yacht confirming the applicant’s employment as a crew member

With Exchange arrangements visa you can:

With Australian Government Endorsed Events visa you can:

  • travel to Australia to participate in an event to support innovation in South Australia
  • enter and leave Australia as many times as you want while your visa is valid

With Domestic work for executives visa you can:

  • work full time in the household of a senior foreign manager

Temporary Graduate Visa 485

This type of visa is for international students who want to live, work or study in Australia after they have completed their studies. If you want to gain significant work experience, enrich your CV and increase your chances of employment upon returning to your country, this visa is for you.

There are two types of Temporary Graduate Visa:

  • Graduate Work Stream – this type of visa applies to international students who have completed their studies in Australia with skills and qualifications for relevant occupations and are on the Skilled Occupation List.
  • Post-Study Work Stream – this type of visa is for international graduates (with Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctoral degree) at an Australian educational institution, regardless of their field of study.

The Graduate Work visa type allows you to:

  • stay in Australia for 18 months,
  • include family members in your visa application so that they can join you in Australia,
  • exit and enter Australia as many times as you want as long as your visa is valid.

Eligibility requirements:

  • to be under 50,
  • to have qualifications for relevant Australian professions that are on the Skilled Occupation List.
  • to be estimated as having skills suitable for professions that are on the Skilled Occupation List.

The Post-Study Work visa type allows you to:

  • stay in Australia between 2 and 4 years after graduation (the length of your stay depends on your qualifications),
  • travel, work or study while in Australia,
  • include family members in your visa application,
  • exit and enter Australia as many times as you want as long as your visa is valid.

Eligibility requirements:

  • to be under 50,
  • to already have the right type of visa,
  • to have a recent degree in the CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students) registered course.
  • to have excellent knowledge of English language.

The processing time for the Temporary Graduate visa is around four months, regardless whether it is a Graduate Work type or Post-Study type.
