Visitor visa 600 has different streams:

  • Tourist stream (for onshore and offshore applicants)
  • Family Sponsored stream
  • Business Visitor stream
  • Approved Destination Status Stream
  • Frequent Traveller stream

The last two streams are only for the citizens of China.

Tourist stream

You can apply for this stream offshore or onshore to extend your tourist stay.

With this visa you can:

  • visit Australia as a tourist, visit family and friends or for other purposes, except for work or medical treatment, for up to 12 months, or for the period for which your visa has been granted
  • study for up to 3 months.

Eligibility requirements:

  • to have an intention to stay in Australia only as a visitor
  • to have sufficient funds to cover your stay in Australia.

Visa application charge (VAC) for Tourist stream is AUD145 if you apply offshore or from AUD365  if you apply onshore. VAC is paid when lodging the visa application.

  • study for up to 3 months.

Eligibility requirements:

  • to have a sponsor who will cover the costs of your stay in Australia and who meets certain criteria
  • to have an intention to stay in Australia only as a visitor.

It is important to note that this type of visa always has the “No further stay” condition, which means that it is not possible to extend your stay in Australia with this visa.

This visa is suitable for those who travel to Australia for business reasons and for a short period of time.

With this visa you can:

  • stay in Australia for up to 3 months
  • have one or more entries to Australia while your visa is valid
  • make general business or employment enquiries, negotiate contracts, or participate in conferences or fairs (provided that the organiser does not pay for your participation).

  • to apply offshore
  • to have intention to stay in Australia only as a business-tourist visitor.

Transit visa Subclass 771

With Transit visa Subclass 771 you can:

  • be in transit through Australia for no longer than 72 hours
  • enter Australia by air before joining the crew of a non-military ship as a holder of Maritime Crew visa Subclass 988

Eligibility requirements:

  • to be offshore at the time of applying for a visa and to have a confirmed booking for a trip to another country within 72 hours of arriving in Australia and proper documents for entry into that country
  • If you are joining a non-military crew, you need to be offshore and have a Maritime Crew visa Subclass 988 and crew documents.

The processing time for Transit visa Subclass 771 is usually from one to two weeks.

Work and Holiday visa Subclass 462 allows young people to work in Australia in order to finance their vacation.

With this visa you can:

  • work in Australia in the short term to pay off your vacation
  • stay in Australia for 12 months
  • study for up to 4 months
  • enter and leave Australia as many times as you want while your visa is valid
  • do certain jobs in order to gain the right to apply for the second Work and Holiday visa 462.

Those who currently have or previously had their first Work and Holiday visa 462, they can apply for the second Work and Holiday visa 462. The requirement for the Second Work and Holiday visa is that you have completed 3 months of a certain job with your first Work and Holiday visa.

Work and Holiday visa Subclass 417 allows young people to work in Australia in order to finance their vacation.
